Coachella 2018: What’s trending this year and where is it coming from?

Every April, over two consecutive weekends, celebrities’ favourite festival, Coachella takes place. Its official name is ‘The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival’, and without fail always has some of the world’s most famous musicians and exquisite installations, regarding the layout.

Today, festivals are just as much about what you’re wearing as the bands and musicians you’re going to see.

Of course, each year you can expect to find the most extravagant beauty trends or the well-known Coachella classics – flower crowns, French braids, face glitter, sequins hot pants and wellies. But what trends stood out from the rest this year? Now we take a look at some of the hottest looks that are trending this year at Coachella 2018:

Pretty in Polka Dots

Polka dots are huge this summer and have been seen all over the runway from designers such as Carolina Herrera, Jason Wu and Junya Watanabe. They are fab if you want to rock that 1950’s vintage vibe. They can be worn as two-pieces – crop tops paired with a skirt or culottes for a modern edge, or as a dress if you want to go more classical.

Two-Piece Tartan

Tartan has been spotted all over the runways lately from designers like Mui Mui and Charles Jeffrey, particularly as two pieces. Whether it be trousers with a matching blazer, a skirt suit or cute crop top paired with pants, you can’t go wrong with this punky look.

Stripe Overload

Colourful stripes have proved to be a key theme this year at Coachella. Whether it be the standard blues and reds or opting for rainbow style, the nautical theme definitely appears to be in, and as above, matching two-pieces are the hottest way to wear it.

The Printed Cat Suit

Catsuits were a hit last year at Versace’s Spring 2018 show. We’re not sure how practical this would be in the scorching heat…but none the less this look is bold and yells girl power.

Cat-Woman wears a catsuit and so do Charlie’s Angels, so there’s no doubt this outfit is powerful.  Also, it’s a fantastic way to show off that amazing figure of yours. We’re definitely some getting Britney Spears Toxic vibes.

Glow in the Dark Glam

This is one of our personal favourites. Fur coats can instantly make any outfit look chic, but the glow in the dark element adds that extra element of magic! It gets cold and dark in the evening at festivals too, so an LED fur jacket is a great way to combat this whilst turning heads at the same time.

Love them or hate them the 80s/90s scrunchies are back in full swing this festival season and are a great idea if you want a quick stylish hairstyle, that doesn’t require too much effort. Above Bella Hadid is styling out some serious Spice Girls looks.

The Cat-Eye Sunglasses

Everyone wears sunglasses to festivals but cat-eye sunglasses are the retro look at the present. They can be found everywhere at the moment, from big brands like Prada and Louis Vuitton to fast-fashion shops like ASOS and Topshop. They were worn by icons like Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe, so they are obviously fail-proof. The cat-eye is a great way to take an outfit and instantly transform it into ‘Hollywood starlet chic’. Gigi Hadid seems to be a massive fan, and so are we!

Mesh/Sheer Pants

These bad boys are a great way of showing off your best assets this summer in a funky and eccentric way. Not only do they look cool, they’re fantastic for festivals because they also leave lots of room for movement and breathability. Above Noah Cyrus looks edgy in her mesh flares and sleek crop top.

Crazy for Crochet

You might recognize this cute style from your grandma’s knitting…However, the crochet is back with a vengeance for fashion and is a staple for the summer season. Instantly giving off summery vibes, crochet is perfect for that bohemian, hippy feel. It can be worn as a two-piece, crop top, dress or skirt and will give you the perfect festival look without a doubt.
