The fashion scene is currently being taken over by a new kind of power couple – sisters. Instead of sibling rivalry, sisterhood is being seen in the public eye as an image of female solidarity whilst offering the perfect opportunity for some incredible co-ordinating fashion moments. Whether they’re together on the front row or the red carpet, here are the most stylish sisters around at the moment.
The Olsen Twins
The identical twins entered stardom at 9 months old, sharing the role of Michelle Tanner in the sitcom ‘Full House’. The twin’s childhood was full of red carpets and interviews and they were forever dressed in matching clothes and hairstyles. As they grew up, their interest in fashion grew, popularising bohemian fashion and even starting their own designer label – ‘The Row’. As they entered their late teens they each created a personal style for themselves, with Mary-Kate wearing crisp feminine designs and Ashley opting for more innovative looks and darker makeup. Despite this, we will always see the sweet, cheeky face of Michelle Tanner in both of them.
Delilah and Amelia Hamlin
Daughters of ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star Lisa Rinna, 20-year-old Delilah and 17-year-old Amelia are the upcoming new sister duo to watch. Growing up in the spotlight, the Hamlin sisters have learned from their mother to always look impeccable effortlessly. At Maddison Beer’s 20th birthday party last month, Delilah chose a sophisticated look in a grey pantsuit, black turtle neck and pearls where Amelia contrasted with a more playful look in a simple white dress and 70s style white boots.
Elle and Dakota Fanning
The blonde haired sisters began their careers as child stars, starring in films such as ‘I Am Sam’ at ages seven and three. In recent years the Fannings have delved into the world of modelling with Elle as the face of Tiffany&Co and Dakota fronting MIU MIU’s SS14 campaign. On red carpets they favour feminine styles which perfectly compliment their stunning doll-like features and platinum blonde hair, with their ‘go to’ brands being Chanel and Prada. They have come a long way from the 2006 kid’s choice awards, and we can’t wait to see what they have to come.
Kendall and Kylie Jenner
The two youngest members of the Kar-Jenner clan are now household names. Between them, the Jenner sisters have a successful fashion label, star in their family’s TV show, have been named the youngest self-made billionaire and highest paid model (for two years running) by Forbes, and are merely 21 and 23 years old. On the red carpet Kendall and Kylie have always opted for standout looks, whether that’s a jumpsuit baring all, an orange crystal mini dress or a leather and chain ensemble.
Gigi and Bella Hadid
Arguably the current biggest IT girls out there, the Hadid sisters are ruling the sartorial stakes. Regulars on the Victoria Secret runway and the faces of numerous major designer labels, the two twenty-somethings have made the world their oyster. Older sister Gigi has even shifted into the world of design and has created three collections with Tommy Hilfiger. Their styles are typically quite similar whilst allowing their personalities to shine through. Totally on trend, we’ve seen them in recent years sporting slinky skirts and slip dresses, reminiscent of 90s supermodels.
Beyoncé and Solange
Beyoncé and Solange often coordinate their outfits, giving off a strong, united sisterly attitude. On a red carpet in the late 90s they matched in little black dresses, but each garment was styled to perfectly reflect them as individuals. This motif was repeated at the Vanity Fair Oscar party in 2015 as they both sported white floor-length gowns. Both sisters are huge advocates for female solidarity and they show this through their mirroring sartorial choices.
