Korean designer Gayeon Lee is a favourite of ours. Her AW19 collection was presented at the Crypt of Trafalgar Square’s St Martin-in-the-Fields on a gorgeous sunny Friday and it sure did not disappoint.
Gayeon Lee worked for several luxury designer houses in London and New York after graduating from London’s Central Saint Martins in 2013. In 2014, the designer launched her own label and has not stopped impressing us ever since. The contemporary luxury fashion label combines her understanding of textiles and passion for fine art, resulting in simple yet sophisticated pieces for the modern woman. Lee won the Vogue Talents award in 2016, collaborated with Swarovski for her AW18 and SS19 collections, and is now back with a beautifully feminine collection for Autumn/Winter 2019.
The collection is a reflection of the brand’s identity being luxurious and feminine, and the pieces which are typically more Spring/Summer have cheered us up for the colder, darker climates of next season. Pastel colours, beautiful textures and her signature metal strap bags made the presentation one to remember, and the two-tonal shoes are an example of how Lee’s endeavours to make winter dressing more enjoyable.
The designer challenges textures and silhouettes and this collection displayed interestingly layered skirts paired with tailored overcoats. They are simple and feminine yet totally unique.
A gorgeous autumnal colour palette plays a huge role in Lee’s collection, with pops of blue taking centre stage. Crisp white shirts, midi skirts and long-line dresses are also here to stay for AW19.
The collection also offers some of our favourite patterns from the entirety of LFW AW19. The stripes and checks seen on dresses, skirts and coats make a winter wardrobe playful but sophisticated.
The ensembles at the presentation were complemented by simple makeup and gorgeous sleek hair, created by Aveda. The messy ballerina buns and low ponytails were accessorised by silk scarves, while models with short hair wore lust-worthy silk headbands.
Always an LFW highlight, we cannot wait to see what Gayeon has in store for next season. Tell us about your favourite look in the comments below.
