Gucci is set to become one of the organisers of the Innovation Festival held by the Fast Company. The annual conference has been held in New York City for the past 5 years, and this year the Festival is coming to Europe for the first time.
The Innovation Festival will be dedicated to technological initiatives and developments, such as AI and utopian robots. Speakers include the mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala, CEO of Burning Man Marian Goodell, professor of strategy and entrepreneurship at London Business School Julian Birkinshaw, co-founder of Imaginary Ventures, non-executive chair at Farfetch and founder of Net-a-Porter Natalie Massenet, as well as President and CEO of Gucci Marco Bizzarri.
About Fast Company
Fast Company is the world’s leading business media brand, with an editorial focus on innovation in technology, leadership, world-changing ideas, creativity, and design. Written for and about the most progressive business leaders, Fast Company inspires readers to think expansively, lead with purpose, embrace change, and shape the future of business.
Launched in November 1995 by Alan Webber and Bill Taylor, two former Harvard Business Review editors, Fast Company magazine was founded on a single premise: A global revolution was changing business, and business was changing the world. Discarding the old rules of business, Fast Company set out to chronicle how changing companies create and compete, to highlight new business practices, and to showcase the teams and individuals who are inventing the future and reinventing businesses.
About Marco Bizzarri
Marco Bizzarri was named President and CEO of Gucci in January 2015, after serving as CEO of Kering’s Luxury – Couture & Leather Goods division, from April 2014 to January 2015, and as president and CEO of Bottega Veneta, from January 2009 to April 2014.
Marco Bizzarri’s mantra at Gucci has been to foster creativity in every aspect of the business and to emphasize the importance of approaching the daily tasks of work in a different way, continually challenging and questioning the status quo and encouraging risk-taking within the framework of a learning organization – an organization based on a culture of empowerment, respect and inclusivity.
The astonishing turnaround that Gucci has achieved in the last three years – a unique case within the luxury fashion industry for a brand of its scale – has gained Marco Bizzarri a series of accolades, including the British Fashion Council’s Business Leader of the Year Award for 2016, 2017 and 2018 and the WWD CEO/Creative Leadership Award for 2017. He was also the recipient of the Legion of Honour, France’s highest decoration, in December 2017.
Innovation Festival will take place from the 9th till the 11th of July in Florence, Italy. Some of the meetings will be held in the creative spaces of the Italian brand – Gucci Hub, Gucci ArtLab и Gucci Garden. You can find the full program on the Innovation Festival website.
Gucci is also launching a new initiative to support the restoration of some historical sites in Rome and Vatican City.
