Liquicity returns to the UK this year, with an all-star drum & bass line-up. As the label’s only UK event this year, this is certainly one for the music calendar.
After a year of successful drum & bass releases from both new and established artists across a plethora of labels, we can expect a wonderful array of drum & bass mixed into sets by our favourite artists. April this year saw the release of Liquicity’s flagship album, Galaxy of Dreams 3. This series of compilations released annually, showcases Liquicity’s signature liquid sound, with new and original acts from the label’s heavyweights, and some fresh new faces. Some of our particular favourites from this year’s album, includes ‘Slap!’ from Dossa and Locuzzed, ‘Rush’ from Blooom and Kaii, ‘Breathe’ from Champion and Veela, and ‘Remember’ by Voicians. Crisp drum patterns, sonorous bass, vibrant synths, and smooth vocals enrich this breezy compilation of tracks that we’re bound to hear on the Liquicity stage.
Taking place once again at Electric Brixton in the heart of South West London, we can expect a chilled vibe, with the usual drum & bass elite skanking to some upfront classics.
Liquicity have been busy this year with their infamous annual summer festival taking place once again, bringing thousands of Liquicitizens from around the globe to The Netherlands. Popular within the drum & bass community, Liquicity have become known for their events; inviting their fans to take a step into the euphoric Galaxy of Dreams. Having only held their first ever two-day camping festival last year, the brand’s remarkable rise is a drum & bass game changer. What’s even more impressive, is the label’s easy-going vibe that seems to be reflected in a friendly, open crowd that always seems to genuinely enjoy themselves, and the multiple drum & bass sub-genres on offer.
With a blinding line-up, these are the acts we can’t wait to see:
This talented duo consists of Josh White and Matthew Lowe, two English drum & bass DJs and producers with a passion for rhythm, and melody. With a unique sound, and rich, clean production techniques, they have managed to take liquid drum and bass in a new direction.
Since their first release back in 2012, they have gained recognition within the genre; frequently gaining high numbers of views and streams across multiple platforms. ‘Meant to Be’ their most renowned track, gathered over 4 million plays. Their sets are completely uninhibited, with liquid drum & bass mixes of dance floor anthems often getting the crowd buzzing.
Their latest album, Elements, released in last year, received a nomination for Best Album of 2017 at the Drum&BassArena Awards.
Expect a predominantly liquid set, with some catchy dance floor remixes thrown in that are bound to leave you bouncing all night.
Listen out for: Their remix of Jakwob’s ‘Blinding’, and Jome’s ‘Cinnamon’.
Formerly known as Stan SB, producer, singer song-writer Fox Stevenson, aka Stanley Stevenson Byrne, is known for pushing the boundaries of any given genre. As a live musician, he’s unafraid to pick up the guitar, drums, bass or simply mix a live DJ set on stage. Many of his tracks boast a futuristic, contemporary quality that works to merge the unnecessary constraints between genres. Willing to create a free-flowing amalgamation of pop, dance, drum & bass, trap, EDM, rock and even a touch of dubstep; Stevenson manages to challenge and question the conventions of each genre with unexpected ease.
It’s only the start for this young producer who seems to have the world (literally) at his finger tips. World tours, a spot on the Liquicity London stage, and numerous collaborations… Be on the lookout!
Listen out for: ‘Something’.
Ever since I was first introduced to the drum & bass scene around six years ago, Maduk has featured heavily throughout most, if not all, of my playlists. Maduk aka, Mark van der Schoot, is a Dutch drum and bass music producer and DJ who’s made quite a name for himself. Having released music on Hospital Records, Viper Recordings, Monstercat, Fokuz Recordings, and his own Liquicity Records (which he co-runs with Maris Goudzwaard), Maduk has become one of the biggest names in drum & bass.
Known for his energetic dance-floor bangers, subtle lead melodies, and catchy, layered vocals, he’s a man of many talents. After the release of his debut album in 2016, Never Give Up, Maduk has appeared on multiple stages, remixing Delta Heavy’s, ‘Stay’ and working with Ella Noël and Rino to create ‘Miles Apart’.
Last year’s set was both vibrant and dynamic, with the perfect balance of liquid drum & bass, and heavy bangers.
We look forward to seeing what he does this year.
Listen out for: ‘Ghost Assassin’ feat. Veela.
After a successful summer festival, and events in Germany and Belgium, Liquicity London is guaranteed to pull out all the stops. As the label’s only UK stop this year, it’d be too good to miss…
