Highlight the Important Stuff with this Season’s Best Neon Pieces

For most of us the thought of wearing an outfit in a colour reminiscent of Stabilo Boss highlighters is enough to make us run for the hills. However, in the past year, the eighties craze for neon has made a comeback, being spotted on celebs such as Rihanna and Bella Hadid. Whether you dare to rock a monochromatic head to toe ensemble à la Blake Lively or accent a look with some highlighter hued accessories, we’re going to show you our pick of the best neon pieces to follow this summer’s brightest trend.

Kendall Jenner was pictured last week teaming neon green with clear Cinderella heels.

Complete your outfit with a bold bum-bag

There is no way this list could not include one of the most divisive bag silhouettes of recent seasons. The bum bag was all over the catwalks during SS18 and 19, featured by the likes of Saint Laurent, Off White and Gucci. As a true fashion throwback, the bum bag oozes 90’s hip hop vibes as well as being a perfect festival companion, so what could be better than donning one in a retro neon shade? You certainly won’t get lost in the crowd…

These WANDLER bum bags range between £168 and £210, and are now both on sale at Net-a-Porter.

You can also find these standout Off-White bags at the Net-a-Porter sale. They’ll set you back at least £230.

The Balenciaga Wheel Embroidered canvas belt bag in green and pink are £385 and £550 respectively, with the green style currently offering 30% off. Available at: Net-a-Porter.

House of Holland’s purse-friendly option is now down from £75 to £53.

Suit Up

After Blake Lively’s masterclass in the form of a lime green Versace suit, we had to investigate into some neon tailoring. If you’re not feeling brave enough to wear the complete co-ord, why not try a bright blazer with everyday jeans for an updated smart casual look?

Equally as showstopping as a full suit or stylish seperates, this pink Versace blazer is £972 and the co-ordinating straight leg trousers are £385, both available at Net-a-Porter.

The asymmetric shape of this House of Holland double breasted blazer is a cut above the rest. £298, available at houseofholland.co.uk

Let’s Get Physical

This section was largely inspired by the aesthetics of Olivia Newton-John’s smash-hit single and the fact that athleisure is sticking around this season. These sassy and sporty pieces fuse together two red-hot trends:

House of Holland strikes again – these drawstring waist shorts, available at Brown’s and priced at £120, are actually the co-ord to the aforementioned blazer. Wear them with sliders and a ribbed vest top for a more chilled out vibe.

Not just any shorts – check out these neon leather cycling shorts by SPRWMN available at Net- A -Porter. A huge investment at £835.

Stella McCartney, sustainability and vegan extraordinaire, has created the Eclypse trainers which are of course made from faux leather and faux suede. Having just a cool hint of neon green, these shoes are available at Net-a-Porter for £273.

These trainers come from vegan brand Koi Footwear. At just £30, we think this simple style is super versatile as the hint of pink is not too overpowering, meaning these can be paired with almost anything in your wardrobe.

Luminous Lenses

Be blindingly beautiful in a pair of neon hued sunglasses this summer – perfect for those who just want to dip their toe into the trend.

These alien inspired Gucci sunglasses will set you back £235 (available from Browns).

These Poppy Lissiman Coco Husk sunglasses (£90) scream fifties meets the future.

So which neon picks take your fancy? We’d love to hear what you get your hands on in the comments below.
