Oscars: The Best Beauty Looks

Every year the Oscars, without fail, presents red carpet glam at its best, and in 2019 that stayed as true as ever. Last Sunday evening’s extravaganza, held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, showcased serious beauty A-game. Emilia Clarke sported the effortlessly glam look opting for soft pink make-up tones and a sleek bob haircut. Meanwhile, Lady Gaga appeared as a modern-day Audrey Hepburn, making an entrance with her intricate coiffed up-do and skin-brightening makeup – proof that for the Oscars 2019, minimalist beauty was favoured. So, from a series of glamourous updos to the return of the fresh-faced makeup, read on to discover are our top five favourite looks that graced the 2019 Oscars’.

Lady Gaga – the modern Audrey Hepburn

If Lady Gaga didn’t already catch everyone’s attention gracing the catwalk in her divine Alexander McQueen gown, then she sure did impress with her old Hollywood glam hair and makeup. Complete with a dazzling diamond necklace, Gaga went icy and barely there with her beauty look. Her makeup, done by makeup artist Sarah Tanno using Marc Jacobs Beauty, featured a soft silver liner on her eyes and a sweep of pale pink on her lips and cheeks. Providing Audrey Hepburn vibes, her hair, styled by Frederic Aspiras, was a platinum swirled French twist – elegant and classy, we are smitten!

Danai Gurira – Sunkissed goddess

Whilst the return of the fresh-faced seemed to be the go to beauty look for the red carpet, we cannot take our eyes off Danai Guriras glitz and glamour. Gurira adorned the Oscars in a gorgeous gold dress, a golden headband placed over her long braids, and sun kissed metallic lips. The rest of her makeup was kept minimal with radiant and glowy skin, soft brows and subtle gold eyeshadow dusted over her lids. Her metallic gold lips not only add extra glamour to her aesthetic but demonstrated how colour can be incorporated in a subtle way. This sun kissed shade is already on the top of our beauty must haves.

Laura Harrier – Modern day Cinderella

Laura Harrier waltzed the red carpet like a modern-day Cinderella in an ice blue louis Vuitton gown and an effortless high ballerina bun. Her princess aesthetic was accented with fresh, subtle makeup – icy blue eyeshadow, nude lips and bold brows. Harrier looked absolutely amazing! But, it took an infrared facial at Shani Darden, an oxygen facial for an extra glow, and time, for the hair and makeup glam to come together. These beauty routines are on our lists for sure.

Constance Wu – Belle of the ball

Speaking of Disney princesses, “Crazy Rich Asians” star Constance Wu was the belle of the ball at this years Oscars in a sunny yellow custom Versace gown. At first glance, Constance Wu, draped in marigold was a vision of elegance – but her nails artist added a sexy touch to her beauty look. Celebrity manicurist Christine Aviles chose a deep, glossy cherry red for Wu’s fingertips. “We didn’t want it to be too red or skew black,” she said, “Essie Gel couture nail polish in Spiked with Style gave her look abit of edge,” and we cannot wait to get our hands on this shade!

Emilia Clarke – Sleek and sophisticated

The Game of Thrones star debuted an entire hair colour makeover at the 2019 Oscars with her chocolate hair colour styled into a short, sleek and sophisticated bob. Her sleek middle part was accentuated with a rosy makeup look – pink cheeks and lips. The actresses skin looked so radiant and soft with the slimmest line of eyeliner. You know what they say, less is more. And this couldn’t be truer for Emilia.
