On 23rd August, high-street label Reserved invited guests to view their new Autumn Winter 2018 collection in partnership with British Vogue. Backstage Tales were in attendance and have the lowdown on the event and most importantly, the clothes.
The centre of the Oxford Street store was transformed into a lifestyle-come-shopping installation, consisting of a photo-gif opportunity, a plush seating area and a capsule collection curated by British Vogue of specific pieces they recommend for the upcoming season.
There was an autumnal gradient evident as the collection included a burnt orange suede belted coat with matching culottes and a leafy green linen dress that was ideal for this transitional time of year. The designs also certainly beared in mind the fast-approaching Winter party season, by providing bold statement accessories and jewel-toned dresses.
Denim came in abundance in the forms of indigo fitted shirts with coordinating high waisted flares, androgynous boiler suits and belted mid-length dresses.
With complimentary champagne in one hand and an armful of checkered co-ords in another, the shopping experience was topped off with free pick’n’mix sweets and a DJ smashing out old-school R’N’B anthems back to back.
I guess the retro sweet treats and throwback tunes reflected a lot about Reserved’s new collection. The majority of the garments really had a vintage feel to them. There were bright hued polka dot dresses and Peter Pan collared blouses that wouldn’t have looked out of place at Rydell High. I got my hands on a chocolate brown cord jacket and the trucker silhouette of it is not a far cry from Ashton Kutcher in That ‘70s Show. These cool pop culture references in recent years have never gone out of style though, so Reserved is onto a sure-fire winner with this Autumn Winter collection.
What are your thoughts on the collection? We’d love to hear in the comments below.
