How the polka dot dress from Zara got its own Instagram

This polka dot dress from the Zara became a social media trend – it now collects likes on social networks, memes and photos of people’s #ootd wearing it. The Hot4TheSpot page on Instagram is a dossier on the white polka dot dress from the summer collection of the Spanish brand. The dress was sold so many times that the authors of the account decided to document the life of this model online.

This season, a printed smock dress by the brand has been roaming the streets with eagle-eyed shoppers spotting the ‘IT’ look on the backs of commuters, pub-goers and festival attendees alike. Instagram page, Hot4TheSpot, dedicated to the cause is on a mission to document the dress’ whereabouts and accepts submissions from those who stumble across the look.

“Oversized with a drop-waist, gathered midi hem and long sleeves, it covers all of the comfy, demure bases we’re looking for right now. It also just so happens to be polka dot, which is high-street shopping catnip if ever we unearthed it. Last year saw crazy retail success at Topshop due to a polka-dot pinafore, while M&S has a rip-roaring time with a navy-and-white spotted jumpsuit, and only last weekend did we note that another, more fitted, spotted wrap dress from Zara was doing the rounds for the start of wedding season. If this doesn’t have appeal-to-the-masses-and-the-fashion-snobs written all over it, then I don’t know what does”. – Who What Wear.

Some dress fans have styled theirs with a pair of Veja trainers, the street style set’s favoured shoe of the year, while others have paired the frock with a rain-proof leather jacket and strappy ’90s heels.
