With Christmas just around the corner, we’re all probably starting to drop hints to our loved ones of possible gifts we’d like to receive this festive season. And to make your list even longer, we’ve gathered some royally good items worn by Meghan and Kate themselves in our gift guide. Hey, if it’s good enough for a Royal, it is certainly good enough for us.
Monica Vinader Earrings
These Siren earrings, in Green Onyx by Monica Vinander, are an absolute go-to for the Duchess of Cambridge and was a must on our royal gift guide. She has been seen wearing them on several occasions during the last few years, starting with their first appearance on her tour of Canada back in 2016, (and on a side note, can we just give a huge shout out to Kate for not being afraid to wear stuff more than once – we stan a sustainability Queen).
A Strathberry Bag…or three
With Strathberry creating a plethora of excellent bags to choose from, it’s hard to decide which you like best. It appears Meghan has had the same problem as she’s been spotted with three different bags by the Edinburgh based brand since her romance with Prince Harry. The ‘tri colour Strathberry midi tote’ sold out in a matter of minutes after she showcased it on her first official appearance with the Duke of Sussex (and FYI: through choosing a handbag she broke royal protocol as she’s supposed to opt for a clutch. But, let’s be honest, how can you get mad when the bag is that beautiful).
Meghan’s also been pictured with the same tote in tan and the ‘East/West Mini’ in Bottle Green. All of the bags can be found on Strathberry’s website on the ‘Handbags carried by Meghan Markle page’. Unfortunately, the East/West mini in the same colour as Meghan’s isn’t currently in stock, but it is available in a range of other wonderful colourways.
And a bag from Aspinal of London
Sticking to bags, the Duchess of Cambridge also has a firm favourite brand, being pictured with the same ‘Midi Mayfair Bag’ by Apsinal in a couple of colours.
A pair of Veja Trainers
After Meghan was pictured wearing this sustainable brand’s V-10 trainers last year, during her tour of Australia with Prince Harry, they were an instant hit quite literally, as her appearance saw online searches for the trainers rise by over 100%. Whilst founder Sébastien Klopp expressed to Vogue that ‘sometimes I feel sad that because a princess wears Veja people are interested in the product,’ it is also great that Meghan is shopping from sustainable brands and influencing others to do so too. If you ask for these trainers this year, not only will you be walking in the same shoes as Royalty, but you will be putting your best foot forward by buying from a brand that puts social responsibility at its forefront. From the materials they use to the way they work with their suppliers and workers, Veja are a shining example for the way fashion companies should behave. You can find out much more about what they do on their website.
A Dress from & Other Stories
Whilst Kate’s position of royalty gives her access to designer brands, she also makes headlines for wearing high street brands. One of my personal faves on this royal gift guide is the ‘& other stories’ floral midi dress she wore to the Chelsea Flower show, back in May this year. Whilst the dress is sold out in Kate’s choice of pattern, it is still available in a variety of different fabrics, including a gold polka dot version, which is perfect for the festive season.
And it isn’t Christmas without a new jumper
Kate and Meghan have broken more sartorial records this year by wearing knitwear from high-street favourites Warehouse and M&S respectively. Whilst the same styles that they sported, of course, are sold out, you’ll definitely be able to get your hands on a similar jumper this festive season – we’ve included some alternatives options below. And a styling tip? Imitate the Duchess’ by teaming high-street with high-end, pairing an affordable jumper with a touch of designer luxury.
