Summer often brings a lot of questionable runway makeup looks, and for most anything louder than a dab of bronzer or a shimmer of gold in the eyelids makes us feel uneasy and certainly not confident. The long, hot summer days can make the skin oily, or heaven forbid… a little sweaty. So how can we possibly add to our already cakey makeup routine during the warmer months?
At Versace’s Autumn/Winter 2019 show, girls had washes and swipes of bright colours created by Pat McGrath. Daring to go bold was the forefront of their look, as the full brow shared a similar thickness with neon eyeliner. Having a heavy mascara, strong blush, nude lip and healthy, clear skin made adding the colour easy to adapt into any look.
Makeup artist Katie June Hughes, enjoys a summertime vibe with a signature sheer glossy lip, bright and healthy skin with a striking solus lid in blues, greens or neon orange.
Morphe has a whole rainbow to share with a 35B Color Burst Artistry Palette from hot pinks, warm oranges to cooler greens and a pop of bright blue. Fenty Beauty also celebrates colour with a limited edition of bold, striking liquid eyeliner trios in aqua blue, green and neon orange. Another makeup designer that enjoys the brighter formulas is Laura Mercier’s Rouge Essential Lipstick line offering 30 varieties of colour.
Just like nail trends, try every runway makeup look until you find one that suit you. After all, variety is the spice of life…
