Spice Girls members Geri ”Ginger Spice” Halliwell, Emma ”Baby Spice” Bunton and Melanie ”Scary Spice” Brown have revealed that they are officially back together under the name GEM. Why is everyone so excited to see these 90s pop stars reunite?
‘You’ve stood by us for 20 years, and we want to say a big thank you,” Geri says in a video clip where their announced their comeback regarding celebrating 20-year anniversary of Wannabe. Emma is adding:
“We’ve had our ups and downs, but you’ve always been there’.
The girls are proclaiming that they want to celebrate and have a party where all their fans are invited.
However, there is two group members who are missing out of the reunion: Victoria ”Posh Spice” Beckham and Melanie ”Sporty Spice” Chisholm.
Victoria Beckham’s rep says to TMZ that she ‘has been very respectful about the fabulous time they had together in the past, however her focus is now very much her family and fashion business’.
Unlike Beckham Melanie Chishom wants to focus on music, but as a solo artist. ‘Right now I am in the studio working on my own album and that is my focus’, she says to The Independent.
Not only are Spice Girls known for their music and hits like Wannabe, Spice up your life and Viva Forever, the pop group was also an inspiration within fashion all over the world. We all remember Geri’s American flag body, Mel B’s leopard printed clothes, Mel C’s crop tops, Emma’s girlie short dresses and Victoria’s black dresses with spaghetti straps. And of course, they were often seen in platform shoes.
In addition to being fashion icons, you could get a piece of them everywhere. You could buy lollipops with your favourite Spice Girl on, Spice Girls sneakers and Spice Girls dolls.
You couldn’t just like them, you chose a girl and became here for the next five years or so when you played fancy dress with your friends.
Even though people might say that their style was kind of extreme and over the top, the 90s are back and we’ve caught ourselves wearing crop tops and spaghetti strop dresses. Spice Girls’ comeback couldn’t be happening at a more appropriate time. I think we’ll walk around in our 90s outfits, listening to songs from GEM very soon.
