It’s the season to be jolly, and very pampered. We help you countdown to Christmas as we review 6 of the best-selling beauty advent calendars, giving us an idea of quality, value for money and research which calendar would appeal to which target audience.
The Body Shop- £65
Everybody’s favourite smells belong to The Body Shop, from fresh strawberry or mango to moisturising coconut or shea butter. This year, The Body Shop has redesigned their beauty advent calendars in a fun and luxurious way, once box 25 has been opened, the advent calendar turns into a trivia quiz to play on the big day! The calendar includes both a mix of cosmetic and toiletries such as lip butter, shower gels, lipsticks and makeup removers. Other calendars from The Body Shop are available at ranging prices and even a new year one?! Perfect!
Jo Malone- £300
Not only is Jo Malone providing an offer for each day of the Christmas countdown on their website with a fun advent calendar design to encourage participation from their customers, but also providing a beauty advent calendar. Despite our most luxurious of the advent calendars and therefore priciest in the ratings, the quality of this product represents the company very well. The advent calendar includes colognes, candles and other indulgent pamper products to get us into the Christmas spirit.
Charlotte Tilbury- £150
Charlotte Tilbury’s Naughty and Nice Magic Box. Similar to other beauty advent calendars, Charlotte Tilbury opted for the 12 days of Christmas, with a treat for each day! One of the worlds most iconic make-up brands, Charlotte Tilbury builds herself upon creating only the best quality products for her customers. Each of the items is wrapped in glamorous boxes with many full-sized items and mini best-sellers! Items include products such as Matte Revolution Lipstick, mini Magic Cream Moisturizer and mini Wonder glow Face Primer.
What make-up lover dislikes NYX for its affordable but amazing quality products?! None, that’s who. From the beginning of December, it’s time to pucker up for 24 days of luscious lips as the countdown for Christmas commences. The lipsticks included are made up of a range of shades and finishes such as matte, butter gloss, lip cream and velvety lipsticks. Colours made up of deep reds, flirty pinks, nudes and even darker purples. NYX has also allowed for full sized items, making the price even better for value.
The most affordable of the lot at just £19, this advent calendar by W7 is fun for all the family with nail varnishes, glitter, eyeshadows and lip gloss the calendar appeals to any age range. Perhaps perfect for a first beauty advent calendar. The colours are fun pops of bright cherries, reds and metallic with a festive feel to all. The advent calendar also includes a full-sized best-seller mascara. I mean, what would Christmas be without a bit of glitter?!
The most controversial of the beauty advent calendars is our childhood sweetheart’s, Zoella Sugg. The famous UK Youtuber found herself working on a project which took months of effort only to receive an uproar from her fans and fans parents. Although Zoella decided what went into her ’12 Days of Christmas’, she did not decide the slightly over-the-top price, of which her fanbase may not be able to afford with their pocket money. The calendar itself is good fun with a variety of stationary and luxury pamper items such as candles, pens, cute key-rings and bath bits.
