Trends of the month: July

Hey there, how’s your summer been so far? Looking for some inspiration for your summer looks? No worries, we’ve got you covered! As per usual Backstage Tales editors have put together 3 looks and are ready to tell you the story behind each item. Dive in!

Look_1: Casual chic

Are you getting out of the house and have no idea how and where the day will take you? Better come prepared, right? Fashion magazines claim that ‘stripes’ is one of the biggest trends of this summer season, but we all know that they have always been and will always be trendy in the summer. Jump into these N°21’s blue and white striped sandals made with satin (our absolute favourite fabric this season) and put on a ‘Bahia’ top defined by voluminous balloon sleeves and inspired by the pastel hues of sunsets and the Caribbean Sea. Why not wear them with simple H&M shorts made from organic cotton?

Complement your look with this Gucci Dionysus shoulder bag with the defining tiger head closure-a unique detail referencing the Greek god Dionysus, who in myth is said to have crossed the river Tigris on a tiger sent to him by Zeus. Put on Cle de Peau Beaute Radiant Powder Foundation and Ruby red lipstick by by Dolce & Gabbana will cover your lips in bold, rich, long-lasting color with a moisture-rich formula and you are ready to hit the summer streets!

Look_2: Evening chill

We are based in London, so although its summer time, the weather is unpredictable and you need to stock up with sweatshirts and jeans. Wherever you are based (maybe in sunny California, who knows?), in the evenings you might also face this problem. Legendary Adidas, the master of an unparalleled ability to fuse fashion and function, created this soft-touch sweat with dropped shoulders that will keep you both warm and sexy. Wear it with high-rise jeans from Levi’s, stacked block heel lifts by Joie and a structured Supreme canvas chain super mini bag by Gucci (yes, we love Gucci, but who doesn’t?). To watch the sunset put on these blue-lensed sunglasses by Quay and bring your friends along!

Look_3: Sunny side up

Ok, I’ll be honest, this look was created around this fabulous cactus mattress by Sunnylife! It totally brings the Australian beach vibes one vibrant pool float at a time (look no further than your own Instagram feed to confirm its success)! Sturdy and colorful, this inflatable is your new hot-day BFF. Your other friends can include a swimsuit by Lisa Marie Fernandez that is just loaded with retro charm. Simply accessorise with a pair of supersized Medewell cat-eye seaside-ready sunglasses and the Spencer Wide brimmed boater hat when lounging in the sun. Our eye also fell on this straw bag by World Market and Valentino jelly bow flip flops sprinkled with signature studs. What do you think? Would you take these babies to the pool/sea side?
