Victoria Beckham’s brand just turned 10 years old, and yesterday was the first time the designer held her ready-to-wear fashion show in her hometown, London. And it was grand. Although the show itself was held exclusively for the press, and close friends, Beckham organised an online broadcast on the big screen at Piccadilly Circus.
Victoria Beckham presented her first collection of clothes exactly 10 years ago, and back then she was perceived only as the former ‘Spice’, and a footballer’s wife. However, over the past few years, the designer managed to turn her brand into a strong business and become one of the brightest representatives of the British fashion industry.
About the SS19 Collection Presentation
Beckham is a perfectionist, and this was best demonstrated at her anniversary show. Stella Tennant opened the show in a stunning white trouser suit (the designer admires the British model) followed by models, Liya Kebede and Eddie Campbell.
The venue for the anniversary show was the spectacular Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac in Mayfair. The models walked down the beautiful marble staircase with a forged balustrade and floated past the spectators in dresses that reflected both Beckham’s personal style, and her design achievements over the years. Clean colours, airy fabrics, flowing androgynous silhouettes – this was the Spring/Summer ’19 collection by Victoria Beckham.
After the show, Victoria Beckham admitted that she was still nervous when she spoke to the press. According to her, the new collection is all about female beauty, and women all around the world. Feminine trousers, both wide and skinny, oversized jackets, and maxi dresses – this collection boasted the classic Victoria!
This year, the designer also released a limited line of t-shirts with images from one of her first photoshoots where her journey to the fashion world began. The Anniversary Collection also debuts a new range of fashion jewellery, including a brass, whistle pendant necklace, a red, leather bracelet, and a chunky, brass signet ring. Hand-crafted in Italy, they come embossed with a discreet ‘VB’ monogram.
The main support group for Beckham on this day was, of course, her family – David, along with Brooklyn, Cruz, Romeo and Harper watched the show proudly from the front row. Her eldest son, Brooklyn, also managed to take some photos. He is, by the way, a member of the pool of official photographers of London Fashion Week, and is also listed as a house photographer for his mother’s brand.
Victoria Beckham 10 year Anniversary Afterparty
The fashion show was followed by an afterparty hosted by David Beckham and British Vogue. Adwoa Aboah, Lara Stone and Alexa Chung joined the designer on the dance floor as Fat Tony spun the decks at Mayfair’s Mark’s Club.
